The Texas Tech University Health Science Center (TTUHSC) Student Government Association (SGA) is an institutional organization composed of student representatives from all professional schools here at TTUHSC. Our purpose is to advocate for students and help make the health sciences center an excellent learning environment for all. With each new year, new seats open up for various programs or classes, and we welcome all applicable students to run! TTUHSC SGA elected senators are entrusted by their constituency to represent the interests of their respective school and campus as well as the general interest of the TTUHSC student body. Senators are required to attend bimonthly meetings (Tuesdays 5:30-7:00 pm) on zoom for the general senate and separate monthly times for their assigned committee. They will also be expected to participate in community service, attend and promote institutional programs, and develop action and recognition legislation.
Elected senators from every program and location are REQUIRED to be available for a virtual Orientation on September 13, 2025 from 9 am to 12 pm. Please keep in mind that students need to be in good academic standing to serve as senators. By filling out this Intent to Run form, you acknowledge that TTUHSC Office of Student Life can check your GPA to assess your status as a student. THIS INFORMATION WILL NOT BE SHARED OR USED FOR PURPOSES OTHER THAN TO ASSESS ACADEMIC STANDING FOR SGA. If you are interested in this opportunity, please submit this intent to run form by 11:55 p.m. on Friday, August 29th. Keep in mind that some of this information will be presented to your program or class for voting purposes. Submitters will NOT need to give a public speech, as voting for elections will be done online.
If you have any questions, please contact the current SGA VP of Operations, James McGowan (james.mcgowan@ttuhsc.edu).
